Identify who carries the cover
Read the legal insurer named on the proposal, not only the group brand. Keep the product name and version of the conditions with the quote. Different companies or policies within a group can have different roles. This is particularly useful when you need to contact the correct claims service later.
Compare outcomes you care about
Use a realistic example: a liability claim, hospital stay, income interruption or damaged belongings. Ask each provider what would be covered, what you would pay and which exclusions could apply. A broad product description or recognisable logo does not resolve those practical questions.
Look at service and terms together
Ask how to notify a claim, which documents are required and how you can follow progress. Read renewal and cancellation provisions alongside the price. Keep the written answers in your comparison. The aim is a suitable arrangement with understandable conditions, rather than choosing purely by company size or advertising.
